Steward Medical Group

Steward Medical Group would like to provide you with an update about what we are doing at our practice to address concerns about COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.

  • We continue to be open for both well and sick appointments and are taking active measures to maximize protection for all our patients and staff.

  • For your safety and that of our staff, we are asking patients who visit our practices to please do so while wearing a surgical mask, or other face covering such as a scarf or handkerchief during your visit. Our practice staff and providers will also be wearing surgical masks to help enhance your comfort and safety during your appointment.

  • In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are actively engaging in telehealth virtual visits so patients who wish to limit any potential exposure can receive care from our doctors from the comfort of home. Should you and your doctor decide that telehealth is the best option for you, our staff will guide you through the process. Telehealth visits for Annual Wellness Visits are also available for Medicare patients ages 65 and older who need this important screening. We are also offering telehealth visits for primary care physicians to follow up with patients within 48 hours after a hospital discharge to ensure patients are doing well and are not in need of further medical intervention following a hospitalization.

  • We are currently screening all patients for risk of COVID-19 both on the phone and in person. To minimize spread of this disease, we are not bringing in ANY patients who screen positive. Telehealth video visits are available for those we cannot see in the office. Patients who screen positive will be triaged by a physician and a decision will be made whether to refer you for testing.

  • As always, we are practicing diligent infection control in our office by cleaning our exam rooms, common spaces, and bathrooms frequently. We are also asking patients to bring as few people to their appointments as possible. Given the high risk of coronavirus to the elderly, we strongly discourage elderly visitors.

As you know, this situation continues to evolve rapidly, and we are constantly monitoring all updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and your state Department of Public Health. We will continue to update you as our protocols change.

You can take an active part in preventing the spread of this disease by staying at home, practicing social distancing, not touching your face, and washing hands frequently and thoroughly.

If you need to schedule an appointment or have any questions, please call our office and our staff will be happy to assist you.
